Bybit VIP levels: requirements, fees and the ladder's VIP
Bybit's VIP programme is a fee schedule, and the word "VIP" also appears in the welcome bonus ladder, which confuses people into thinking a referral code unlocks it. This page separates the two: what the VIP tiers require and what they pay, straight from Bybit's fee page, and what the VIP badges in the welcome ladder actually mean.

The base tier everyone starts on
A new account is VIP 0. Spot costs 0.1% per side, maker and taker alike. Derivatives cost 0.02% maker and 0.055% taker. There is no code, coupon or promotion that changes this schedule for a new account; the fees guide explains how maker and taker differ and what the numbers mean on a real trade.
How tiers are earned
Bybit assigns a VIP level on either of two measures, whichever gives the higher tier: the assets held on the account, or the trading volume of the last 30 days. VIP 1 needs $100,000 in assets or $500,000 in 30-day volume. VIP 4 needs $1,000,000 in assets or $2,500,000 in volume. Supreme VIP, the top, needs $10,000,000 in 30-day volume and has no balance route.
The tiers in between scale accordingly, and the level is re-evaluated as balances and volumes move. A trader who crosses a threshold in one month and falls below it the next drops back.
What each tier pays
VIP 1 cuts spot to 0.0675% maker and 0.08% taker, and derivatives to 0.018% maker and 0.04% taker. Against VIP 0 that is roughly a third off spot maker fees and a quarter off derivatives taker fees, which for a $500,000-a-month trader is a meaningful sum.
VIP 4 pays 0.05% spot maker and 0.06% taker, and 0.012% derivatives maker and 0.032% taker. Supreme VIP pays 0.03% spot maker, 0.045% spot taker, 0% derivatives maker and 0.03% derivatives taker; a zero maker fee on derivatives is the reason large market-makers care about the tier at all.
The VIP in the welcome ladder
Bybit's welcome programme ends in a five-rung deposit bonus ladder, and its two top rungs carry VIP badges: $8,800 with VIP 1 for a $125k deposit and $50 million of volume, and $30,000 with VIP 4 for a $250k deposit and $150 million of volume. Bybit labels the status "extra benefits".
Put the two tables side by side and the label makes sense. An account that has deposited $125k and traded $50 million has passed the normal VIP 1 threshold ($500k of monthly volume) many times over; the badge on the rung is confirmation of a status the activity would earn anyway, plus whatever promotional extras Bybit attaches. Nobody reaches VIP 1 through the ladder who would not have reached it through the fee schedule.
For a normal new account the ladder's VIP rungs are not a target. The rewards that matter early are the $100 sign-up bonus and the small fixed deposit and trade bonuses, which the claim guide covers in order.
What this means in practice
If you trade enough to care about VIP fees, the route is volume or balance, not codes. If you are opening a first account, the base schedule is what you will pay, the referral code attaches the welcome rewards but changes no fee, and the referral code page lists what those rewards are. Bybit does not serve residents of the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, the EEA, Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan and a set of sanctioned territories; our button checks your country before it redirects.
Frequently asked questions
- What do you need for Bybit VIP 1?
- Either $100,000 in assets on the account or $500,000 of trading volume in the last 30 days, whichever qualifies you for the higher tier. VIP 1 cuts spot fees to 0.0675% maker and 0.08% taker and derivatives to 0.018% and 0.04%.
- What is the VIP status in the welcome bonus?
- The two top rungs of the deposit bonus ladder come with VIP 1 (the $8,800 rung) and VIP 4 (the $30,000 rung). Bybit's page calls them "extra benefits"; the ladder's deposit and volume conditions are far above the normal VIP thresholds anyway.
- Does a referral code give VIP fees?
- No. A referral code attaches the welcome programme; it does not change the fee schedule. VIP levels are earned by balance or volume, and the ladder's VIP rungs need six-figure deposits.
- What is Supreme VIP?
- The top tier, at $10 million of 30-day volume, with a 0.03% spot maker fee, 0.045% spot taker, and 0% derivatives maker.
